About the Photographer

I am a life-long naturalist with a strong conservation ethic. I have been studying and documenting the natural world and its diversity from a young age, and I created this site to try to bring some of the amazing and beautiful creatures and places I experience a little closer to you.

I think most places are filled with wonder if one looks at them in a certain way. I appreciate nature in all its forms, from the stunning coastal marsh sunrise, to the bright and beautiful plumage of the painted bunting, to the tiny structures that differentiate one species of crayfish from another. Mosquitoes and ticks I "appreciate" for different reasons, but even they have their place.

My favorite photographs are those in which I manage to capture a behavior or interaction between an animal and its peers or environment. These are special to me because, not only are they representations of the beauty in nature, they can be important tools to document and learn about species, and that may one day help their survival. Nature is METAL when you take time to examine it in detail.
